Succiso, Emilia-Romagna
hike description
Alpe di Succiso is one of the seven peaks in the northern Apennines exceeding 2,000 meters. The mountain is complex and has a varied terrain. It is surrounded by three main valleys: the valley of Liocca, the valley of Rio Pascolo and the valley of Secchia. The hike up this mountain will certainly be an adventure! Recommended Route
Starting at Valle dei Cavalieri, take 655 trail for Alpe di Succiso. This trail will lead you to Rifugio Rio Pascolo. Contact the Park in advance if you wish to rent out this refuge for a night or two. From the refuge continue on 655 until you reach the intersection of 667 and 655. Turn right onto 667 and continue to the summit of Alpe di Succiso (turn left onto 667 to reach the summit of Monte Casarola). From here, you may take the same route back or continue on the loop by taking trail 671. However, the first part of this trail is on a steep ridge that can be difficult for those with a fear of heights. It is strongly advised to be taken carefully and only in good weather conditions.
