The Atelier of Water and Energy is a science center where exploration and experimentation are interlaced to generate knowledge of the different kinds of energy in the natural world. Consisting of four camps, the science center is designed to allow children, teenagers, and adults observe, explore, and reflect on nature and its potential. This project is funded by the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park along with the municipality of Ligonchio, Enel power station, and Reggio Children.
Base Camp
The Base Camp for the Atelier of Water and Energy is located at the Ligonchio Enel hydroelectric power station. Inside, travelers enjoy the "Waves to Waves" program through exploring the physical phenomena and expressive features of water and energy. The program is designed to encourage abstract thinking in order to foster creativity, curiosity and questions surrounding topics in science that cannot be easily explained. There are three additional camps associated with the Atelier of Water and Energy.
Camp One
Camp one is in Ligonchio and serves as the primary location for research and documentation about water and energy.
Camp Two
Camp two is immersed inside a tall beech forest, where researchers can document the relationship between natural elements (wind, water, sun and earth) and the phenomena linked to them.
Camp Three
Camp three is located in the village of Presa Alta, where researchers study the relationship between water and its metamorphoses in the Ozola stream.
