Italy is known for its wine style and culture that exists around it. Every region within the country produces distinctly unique wines, and each wine maker has an individual sense of pride that translates directly into their produces.
Within the TEA National Park ther two regions, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, have special grape varieties that produce incredible local wines. Both regions, one grape varietal and one area are included within the 64 local product list as the wines that are produced in these areas hold major designations like DOC, DOCG and IGT.
Tuscany (Toscana) Wines
Tuscan wines are among the most appreciated abroad. The whole region is hilly, and has a mild climate thanks to the extensive coast overlooking the Ligurian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea, which contributes to the terrior that produces such great wines. Tuscany boasts 39 DOC wines, 6 IGT and 11 DOCG.

- Chianti
- Brunello di Montalcino
- Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
- Carmignano
Each of these wines are DOCG red wines made from Sangiovese grapes.
VERMENTINO GRAPE
This particular grape varietial holds the IGT designation and is considered one of the Park's 64 local products. This grape is grown in the Tuscan region on slopes that are facing the sea. The characteristics of the Vermentino grape is being a pale yellow wine with greenish reflections. On the palate it is dry with a slightly bitter finish. Furthermore, it is important to note that traditionally Vermentino is a light bodied, citrus and tree fruit wine base, but it is not always consistent. The taste changes slightly depending on terroir and the wine maker. The wine's crispness makes it a delicious accompaniment to fresh seafood, oysters on the half shell, or grilled Mediterranean vegetables.
VAL DI MARGA
This is an area within the Tuscan region. It is highlighted within the Park's 64 local products as it holds the IGT designation. The wine can be red, white or rosé.
White:
- Color- Straw-yellow
- Flavor- Dry, fruity, strong yet balanced
- Alcohol Content- 12.5%
Red:
- Color- Red ruby
- Flavor- Dry, tannic and balanced
- Alcohol Content- 12%
Rosé:
- Color- Strong pink color
- Flavor- Fruity, fresh and floral
- Alcohol Content- 10.5%
Emilia-Romagna Wines
The Emilia-Romagna region is known for producing distinctive wines on the fertile flat lands. Becasue of the natural conditions in this area the wines with depth and finesse are favored. This region has 2 DOCG, 21 DOC and 9 IGT designations. Of all the wines produced in Emilia-Romagna, the best known is Lambrusco. A native vine with a 2,000 year old history in the land, it is a true staple in the Italian diet and has been for centuries.
