Lagdei, Emilia-Romagna
hike description
Located on the border between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, within the municipalities of Corniglio and Pontremoli. The Tuscan mountainside is rocky and steep and is challenging for most hikers. The Emilian side provides a more moderate hike and is great for summer walking or ski-mountaineering. The recommended route is a wonderful loop that passes by Rifugio Mariotti on Lake Santo. From the summit you can admire the historical region of Lunigiana and the Magra valley as well as the monumental Apuan Alps.
recommended route
(Emilian side) From Rifugio Lagdei, take the 723A trail. This will lead around Lake Santo to Rifugio Mariotti. After leaving the lake, the 723 trail breaks off to Monte Marmagna. Don't take this left, continue going straight onto 729. Once on 729, follow the signs for the Monte Orsaro summit. Descend on 00, which will intersect with 727A. Take this route and keep left when it splits into two trails for 727. Continue on 727 all the way back to Rifugio Lagdei. This trek is a little more complicated than most (but totally worth it). It is strongly recommended to purchase a trekking map to draw out your hike.
